A noble, patient subject

On our way back through Yellowstone we came across what we thought was a bear jam – a cluster of cars pulled over to watch a bear – but it turned out to be an elk grazing relatively close to the road. Disappointed that it wasn’t a grizzly, but thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph this guy for a few minutes before he bolted into the woods.
