Morning from Dead Horse Point
Looking east over the canyon
This image was captured on the first morning of October’s NXNW trip to Utah. We missed sunrise at Dead Horse Point, but still had great light when we arrived. The sun had lifted well above the mountains, but was still low enough to throw some glorious God-rays across the peaks, illuminating the canyon. The strong foreground ridge in shadow helped anchor the image for me. It also begged for a panorama crop.

Oh, and if you’ve been to Dead Horse Point before and are thinking, “Hey, I’ve been to Dead Horse Point, and that ain’t it!”, I feel you. But if you look east, you’ll see these ridges.
Thanks for stopping by!
