Bolton-Emerson Americas
The equipment on the floor of at Bolton-Emerson Americas dated back to the very early 1900s with the latest pieces no older than the 1970s. Some of them had computer upgrades as recent as the 1980s. When I photographed the facility in 2010, there was a staff of about a half dozen people — some of them part-time. It wasn’t unusual for a couple of processes to be running simultaneously with one person manning both.
On this day, Frank Mack (who you’ll meet later) was set this beast in motion before moving on to start another process.
