Swallowtail Light

from A reluctant trip

Swallowtail Light, Grand Manan, NB, CA

This image was taken in the Spring of 2017 during a trip to Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick, Canada. The trip was on the suggestion of my friend and tour guide, Steven Perlmutter. I was reluctant. I had just been laid off, money was tight, and I was just ramping up my job search. Steven put on the hard sell. He showed me images of the island (including of the iconic Swallowtail Light) and laid out a proposed itinerary that looked both compelling and affordable.

So we went. And it was glorious.

The trip spanned five days and four nights — two nights along the coast of Maine and two on Grand Manan. It involved a lot of driving and produced a lot of images I’m extremely proud of.

In anticipation of a long-overdue return to Grand Manan this year, I’m revisiting and republishing (here on the new blog) from that original trip.

Here is a previously unpublished image of Swallowtail Light.
