Opening Day

And Closing Day

Opening Day

Last Friday, April 4, 2025, was the home opener for the Boston Red Sox, and I was thrilled to attend the game with my good friend (of 50 years!) Fran Coughlin. His company gifted him a pair of tickets and he was kind enough to invite me to the game as his guest.

That same day also marked the end of my career. After over 50 years in the workforce (if you count part time jobs through High School and College), I finally retired. My career took me across several companies industries ranging from government think-tank to med tech. I experienced ups and downs, successes and failures, and made many friends along the way. I am extremely grateful.

The opening ceremony was a 50th anniversary tribute to the 1975 Boston Red Sox World Series team. As underdogs the Sox lost the Series to the St. Louis Cardinals — The Big Red Machine — but they took it to seven games. It remains one of the most storied World Series in Baseball history, highlighted by Boston’s Carlton Fisk’s game six walk-off home run that tied the series at three, forcing a game seven. Check it out.

Evidently 50 was good number for Friday.

Opening Day gave me a good chance to grab another image for my on-again off-again Fenway Experience series (which be be republished here soon, I promise). This image above and the one below are candidates.
