Desert Layers

A view from Dead Horse Point

Desert Layers, Dead Horse Point

I’m part part of an ad-hoc group of photographers who gather in a predetermined scenic location each year to mock each other’s skills, steal each others compositions, and consume fine craft beers. We are known among at least a handful of people on Social Media as “NXNW”. You can search under the hashtag #NXNW to see some of our work. (please, God, don’t let there be a porn site using that same hashtag.)

Over a decade ago — like in a bad RomCom — we met online. We each ran our own blogs, gradually following each other, and commenting back and forth. Eventually, one of the crew thought it would be a good idea to meet in person. And so we did. Rather THEY did. I missed the first trip, but I’ve only missed one trip since then.

This year’s trip was to Utah — our third visit to that part of the country. Yeah. We like Utah.

Today’s image is from that trip. A view from Dead Horse Point… We arrived too late for sunrise (long story), but early enough to catch some great light.

Hope you like it.
