Basin Cascade
A Personal Favorite
Our family vacation last week in the White Mountains of New Hampshire was hampered by several days of rain. Some days just a drizzle here and there, a couple complete washouts. It put a damper (no pun intended) on the grandkids’ swimming time, but did not completely ruin the week. We still got to take in (the very lame but kid-favorite) Story Land and its neighboring aquarium, which provides great opportunities for little kids to pet sting rays and sharks — tiny sharks, but they are still sharks.
We also dodged raindrops on a Thursday visit to The Basin in Franconia Notch State Park. The Basin area is a great, kid-friendly hike with lots of little cascades and areas to get your feet wet in the excruciatingly cold water of the Pemigiwasset River.
It is also great for photography buffs like me. It features this gorgeous cascade that I can never seem to pass up shooting. The frequent rains of this summer had this cascade flowing like I've never seen it before.
Thanks for stopping by!
